Post-Doctoral Fellows

Description: We are seeking 1-2 highly motivated postdoctoral researchers to join us at the Cardiovascular MRI Lab at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), located in Shanghai and widely recognized as one of the best universities in China. The long-term goal of the lab is to improve performance of cardiac MRI by improving scan efficiency, motion robustness, contrast mechanism, and data analysis. The responsibilities of these positions include development of novel pulse sequence and reconstruction algorithms for fast and motion-robust imaging of the heart morphology, function, and tissue/flow properties, and development of machine learning methods for fast and reproducible reconstruction and post processing.

Facilities: The Cardiovascular MRI Lab is part of the newly founded research center, Institute of Medical Imaging Technology, which brings up numerous working opportunities at SJTU. The center currently has a research-dedicated United Imaging uMR790 3T scanner, and several MRI and PET/MR units are planned for installation in near future. Free access to the scanner, sequence development software, and computational units is guaranteed for these positions.
The lab has a strong connection with the vendor, United Imaging Healthcare, and strong collaborations with clinicians in both cardiology and radiology at several Shanghai-based major hospitals that have been routinely practicing CMR. The accepted candidates will work in a collaborative and multi-discipline environment filled with coworkers from academia, industry, and medicine.

Qualifications: The candidate must have a PhD in related disciplines, including but not limited to electrical engineering, physics, applied mathematics, and computer science. Candidates with training experience in the following areas are encouraged to apply: 1) MR physics and pulse sequence development; 2) image reconstruction; 3) machine learning.

Application: The positions are available immediately, and the expected duration is 2-4 years. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered. Outstanding fellows will have the opportunity to be promoted to tenure-track faculties at SJTU after completion of the training.

Graduate Students (PhD/Master)

Dear young professionals:

Thanks for visiting this page! If you are thinking whether you should pursue a PhD or master degree, first ask yourself whether you like to think creatively and independently. This is the prerequisite for doing research. Then you should ask yourself whether you like mathematics, experiments, and programming, if so, congratulations!

Our lab is looking for highly motivated PhD and Master students to join us, and work together to achieve grant goals in cardiovascular imaging. The central research question we are asking is, whether MRI can be used for clinical cardiac imaging in a real-time, robust, reproducible, and intelligent way, so that this wonderful technology can be easily performed in the clinical environment day to day, to help assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of cardiovascular disease and save lives. If you think this research sounds useful and potentially very interesting to you, don't hesitate to write me an email to ask questions, or tell me how you think!

Requirements for application:
The candidates are encouraged to first consult the SJTU graduate school for specific requirement for your intended program. In order to perform research in our lab, the candidates are also required to have a undergraduate or graduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Medical Physics, or other related disciplines. In addition, if you already have a master degree, you need to have some evidences to show your capability in generating meaningful research outcome (papers, abstracts, etc.)

Interested? Send your resume to Dr. Chenxi Hu (chenxi.hu@sjtu.edu.cn).
We are looking for a highly motivated & creative student to join us beginning at Fall 2023. Send your resume to me if you are interested in this position!

Undergraduate Students

The lab is actively looking for highly motivated undergraduate students currently enrolled with SJTU to work as a research assistant for various research projects related to cardiovascular imaging. The research projects for undergraduate students will be well defined, with a specific research goal, to help the students understand the project and be able to generate research outcome. More importantly, these projects will be part of a bigger research project which will finally turn into a paper in a highly ranked journal in this area, and all contributors will share the authorship based on their contribution. Therefore, this is a wonderful opportunity for undergraduate students who want to have some research experience listed on their resume for future job hunting.

Requirements (important):
-The candidates must be currently enrolled with SJTU.
-Ideally, the candidates should be in his/her late-second, third, or begin-fourth year. However, freshman and sophomore candidates who are very confident about their mathematics and programming skills and talents are also encouraged to contact me.
-The candidates must be highly motivated about research, meaning that not only he/she likes the idea of research, but also he/she enjoys sitting down in a lab for hours to perform research.

Interested? Send your application to Dr. Chenxi Hu (chenxi.hu@sjtu.edu.cn).
